The last few years

Starts in 2025. It is still happening, and this page will be redrawn when it is clear what the period was. The edges are soft: nothing changed on the first of January. The six eras are this archive’s own way of dividing the years, not an agreed history.

Where people were

The same short-video feeds, now full of generated pictures, generated voices and remixes of both.

What it looked like

Images and clips made by a model from a sentence, existing characters redrawn in another style, and trends that are about the tools as much as made with them.

How a thing spread

As before, by recommendation — with the difference that making a version no longer needs a camera or any skill, so a format can be flooded within hours.

What changed

For the first time a great deal of what spreads was not filmed, drawn or recorded by anybody. People began to need a word for that, and found several.

What stayed

Too early to say.
