What this was
A duck walks up to a lemonade stand and asks the man running it whether he has any grapes. He does not. The duck comes back the next day and asks again, and the day after that, until the man threatens to glue him to a tree — at which point the duck asks whether he has any glue, and then whether he has any grapes.
It first appeared in 2010, during the social era. Uploaded by songdrops.
It is an old joke set to a tune, animated in Microsoft Paint by a fourteen-year-old, and the repetition is the whole mechanism: the song teaches you its own structure and then breaks it once. The catchphrase survived long after most people forgot where it came from.
Four sequels between 2009 and 2024, a children’s book, a Christmas version and a live-action remake. Bryant Oden has described it as a rare combination of a catchy tune, an old joke and a good main character rather than anything he engineered.
