What this wasThe story
In April 2024 Megan Boni, posting as girl_on_couch, half-sang a list of requirements into her phone: a man in finance, trust fund, six five, blue eyes. She was mocking the specificity of dating-app checklists. She is not a singer and there was no song — just the cadence, repeated, over nothing.
The phrase became 2024 shorthand for a whole set of arguments about dating, class and what people admit to wanting. Boni has said her life changed completely and has been open that she never intended to become a musician.
